Job description
Families Out Loud is a Wiltshire charity working with families challenged by someone else’s drug and alcohol dependency. We are recruiting a new trustee to work with the board to implement and deliver our 5-year Strategic Plan.
What will you be doing?Families Out Loud supports families to bravely build a better life. We want to reach every family impacted by drug and alcohol use so they can speak out, free from stigma, and receive the support, care and help they need. Our services include one-to-one, group, family and bereavement support, as well as specialist teen support.
We are recruiting a new trustee to assist with delivering the charity's 5-year Strategic Plan, ensuring compliance and setting the annual budget. The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a team, have good independent judgement and be willing to speak their mind.
You will share our passion of supporting families affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use. Addiction, and the stigma which surrounds it, devastates lives and families. FOL is committed to helping clients to rebuild their lives, and to reducing stigma so that clients can speak out, and speak freely.

An understanding of how addiction affects families is advantageous but lived-experience is not essential.
What difference will you make?The role of trustee at Families Out Loud is varied and interesting, providing scope to really make a difference. We know that there are up to 50,000 people across Wiltshire whose lives could be significantly improved through access to our support services, so reaching them is of prime importance. As a small organisation that has experienced steady growth over its first five years, our profile is now increasing and we are collaborating with a wide variety of external organisations.
As a member of our board, the successful candidate will help to ensure the charity's ongoing stability and future sustainability. Operating within our Values of Listen, Care, Be Practical and Show Determination, they will be instrumental in shaping the next five years in which we anticipate continued growth.
