My clients are a very well-established manufacturing company based in Tameside. We are now looking for them a Security Officer
£13.94 per hour (inclusive of shift pay).
38 hours per week – 6:00am - 2:00pm, or 2:00pm - 10:00pm Monday to Thursday.
6:00am -12:00pm, or 12:00pm - 6:00pm Friday
When working the early shift, you will be expected to start at 5:00am – 5 hours compulsory overtime per week.
30 minutes – Paid Lunch Break.

Main Purpose of the Role:
• Open and close the site at the start and end of the day and ensure the facility is secure.
• Monitor the security of the site with the aid of 24-hour video recording equipment and by regularly patrolling the perimeter.
• Be the first contact for contractors and visitors and direct calls to the relevant member of staff.

Site Security Duties:
• Open and close the site at the start and end of the day ensuring that all lighting and heating is turned off and that doors and windows are locked. Before closing the building, the guard must ensure that all staff have left site.
• Walk around of the site checking all allocated areas of the factory and car park. Ensuring exterior doors are closed and the smoking shelter is clean, and bins have been emptied. Check all perimeter fencing for signs of damage and ensure all exterior lighting is working correctly. Report if necessary.
• Monitoring of the video recording equipment and addressing/reporting any breach of company property or other activities that maybe detrimental to the operation of the business.
• Ensure site plans are in good condition and up to date and are readily available for contractors or emergency personnel entering the building.
• Should the site’s fire, intruder alarm or gate system fail to activate when attempting to leave the building the guard must contact the relevant member of staff and also the company responsible for the equipment that failed via their 24-hour contact procedure then remain on site until the problem can be resolved.
• Have a working knowledge of the fire and intruder alarm system, should areas within the building need to be isolated or issues with the system discussed over the phone. Understand the operation of the gate so that in the case that the gate fails the system can be moved to manual operation.
Emergency Equipment Duties:
• Carry out checks on fire doors, extinguishers, and emergency lighting to ensure they are in safe and in operable condition including an annual SOAK test of the emergency lighting. Complete a report and send it to the manager in charge of security.
• Assist with the weekly fire alarm and sprinkler testing.
• Should a call point fail the guard will deactivate the zone and report to the relevant manager.
• If for whatever reason the alarm system needs to be deactivated i.e. during maintenance, then the Security Officer will call the site’s monitoring company to let them know. The Security Officer will call again once it is OK to resume monitoring.
Legionella Duties:
• As required temperature checks of the taps on site are carried out and the results entered into the computer. The results are emailed to the relevant site manager.
• Periodically emergency showers are stripped and cleaned. The operation is documented, and the relevant manager informed.
Energy Reporting Duties:
• Readings are taken for gas, electric and water they are then recorded/graphed on the computer for the use of the relevant site manager.
Canteen Duties:
• Ensure tables and other canteen equipment including vending machines are clean and in working order.
• Ensure that the coffee and confectionery machines are stocked.
• Record product used, list products required and hand to the relevant site manager for re-ordering.
• Ensure store cupboard is clean and tidy and that deliveries are stored.
Out of Hours Duties:
• Should an alarm sound outside working hours then the monitoring company will attempt to call the list of keyholders, which includes the security personnel; it is the responsibility of the Security Officer to attend site (if required) to investigate and call emergency services if required.
As our Security Officer, you will be responsible for Site Security which will involve opening and closing the site, monitoring CCTV systems, performing site patrols and being the first point of contact for visitors. You will also be responsible for performing checks on emergency equipment such as the fire alarm, Intruder alarm, sprinkler system, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting and recording any results. As well as other duties.
