Job Description

Job Summary

The Trainee Trust and Tax Manager will be assisting the current Trust and Tax Manager with the daily general administration of trust and estate matters. The role is hybrid and dynamic, which will require you to develop a legal knowledge and understanding of how UK trusts and estates are administered and the various tax regimes which they are subject to.

The role is a career path to becoming a Trust and Tax Manager with great prospects and career progression for the right candidate. Full training and support will be provided to you by the Trust and Tax Manager and the firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing assistance and administrative support to the Trust and Tax Manager.
• Liaising with clients, investment managers and HM Revenue and Customs directly as part of the general administration of trust and estate matters.
• Registering trusts and estates with HMRC’s Trust Registration Service.
• Assist with the preparation of annual tax returns for trusts, estates and occasionally individuals.
• Assist with Capital Gains Tax on Disposal of UK Residential Property reporting for resident and non-resident individuals, trusts and estates.
• Assist with the preparation of Trust and Estate accounts.
• Drafting legal documents for Trusts such as a Deeds of Appointments etc. with supervision and guidance. 
• To efficiently manage your own matter list which has been delegated to you.
• This role is based full time in our Farnham office. 

Qualifications and Requirements

• Educated to a minimum of A-Level in Law or Accounting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ideal candidate will have initiative and the ability to self-manage with a keen interest to expand their knowledge in this area.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Previous experience in this type of role, whilst desirable, is not essential.
