Job description


We are looking for enthusiastic, forward thinking, passionate and motivated nurses or allied health professionals to join our newly commissioned CAMHS Rapid Assessment and Intensive Support Team (RAIS)

The role is in a new part of the service to provide rapid and timely response for a small but significant complex number of young people who may require a rapid assessment and short term intervention

The service is been developed to meet the needs of an increasing number of young people presenting with complex needs who are seeking a rapid assessment on a paediatric ward, community or other place of safety.

You will be a dynamic and forward thinking practitioner who is prepared to meet the challenges of a new element of our service, delivering the highest quality of care for the children and young people in Pennine Lancashire.

An ability to assess, formulate and intervene from a multi-theoretical perspective is a must as is the ability to work with young people and families from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds.

Significant experience within specialist CAMHS or adult mental health is essential whilst knowledge of IT systems would be advantageous. Supervision requirements are acknowledged and supported by East Lancashire Hospitals Trust and these will be negotiated with the successful candidate in order to meet local and professional need.

Main duties of the job
• Delivery of clinical services provided by the RAIS Team which is inclusive of self-harm, ward based and community responses.
• Ensuring Team Co-ordinator is fully cognisant of significant day to day issues through effective and proactive agreed communication.
• Developing clinical management plans of a caseload of clients with complex needs, using CPA principles, evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, delivered both in our hospitals and in the community

As a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner in the team, you will be involved in assessments and short term intensive support. The team will work 7 days a week and cover shift pattern until 10pm. Therefore shifts and weekend working are part of the working practice.

The service offers placements for trainees in core Psychiatry and General Practice; higher specialty trainees in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry; and students from a wide range of disciplines including nursing and clinical psychology. You will be expected to contribute to the overall training offered within the service and to outside agencies where appropriate, as well as mentoring learners in the team There are good links with the Universities of Manchester, Liverpool and Central Lancashire.
