This Strategic Commissioner post sits within the Integrated Commissioner Service and leads on a range of high profile, transformational work areas. The post holder is responsible for older adult care home market shaping and management (residential, nursing and Extra Care housing) which includes working closely with care home providers to ensure the market is accessible, high quality and able to meet the needs of Bromley older adult residents. The post is also leading on one of the most exciting, cross cutting transformation programmes – the re-procurement of Extra Care Housing. Extra Care housing is independent, shared living with care and support on site and has many examples of being used creatively to support a wider range of clients then are currently being supported in Bromley. The programme is a mix of asset, housing and regeneration work alongside adult social care, care and support commissioning and can transform the way we support and house a large percentage of some of our most vulnerable clients maintaining maximum independence and quality of life.
Much has changed in the care home market during Covid, and as finances are increasingly strained with a growing older adult population with complex health and care needs, the role of the commissioning department has never been so important.
This post would be suitable for someone who enjoys working directly with a range of different providers and is passionate about ensuring we have the right physical infrastructure and care market to support the large older adult population in Bromley. The post holder would be someone who is interested in innovation, looking to other areas for best practice on how we can continue to develop and deliver a thriving care home market that, wherever possible, promotes independence. They will enjoy working with a range of internal and external stakeholders able to ensure that everything we do is done with clients at the heart, challenging processes and systems that fit around public services rather then the journey of the client. The role of the commissioner is to lead, inspire and ensure we have a suitable local, affordable market that meets the needs of our local population.
The successful postholder will have experience working with care providers and or social landlords. Good verbal and written communication skills and confidence in working with data are a must.
