The position of Controls Project Engineer is pivotal in leading the delivery of a range of capital projects from inception to delivery within our Birstall site. You will own the site obsolescence roadmap and actively work to automate & digitalise with speed our factory assets & operation systems.
With the role relying on securing large amounts of Project investment, you will need to interact and influence teams and individuals to secure funding, plan, organise and then deliver the work. The successful candidate will always need to meet commercial requirements and be able to maintain line of sight with the customer from inception to delivery, whilst handling several different projects at once.
What are we looking for?
- Proven track record of delivering Large Minor/Major projects in a very dynamic factory environment.
- Deep working knowledge of 415V distribution, motor control, PLC systems, software, process control philosophies, level 2 systems and networks.
- Planning, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in a FMCG business aligned with the significance of this role.
- Solid understanding of relevant safety legislation.
- Proven working knowledge and practical implementation of production data capture systems.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Project manage range of capital projects from concept to delivery.
- Owning and driving site controls masterplan.
- Technical leadership of various site digital transformation initiatives.
- Owning and leading the site electrical and control installation standards, alongside adhering to local and business-related policies and procedures.
- Writing of project specifications for new factory systems/equipment or updates of existing systems.
- Setting and agreeing training and upskilling plans for the electrical and control technical teams.
- Driving a culture of innovation within the factory environment, with solutions that can be scaled across the Mars manufacturing network.

Salary from £50,000 plus annual bonus and excellent company benefits.
