Job description


Pharmacy@LTHTR has a new Senior Pharmacy Technician role with responsibility for the daily planning and organisation of the dispensing of medicines for the supply service we provide to Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust. The post holder will also deputise for the Pharmacy Technician Team Leader at Chorley Hospital. Our ideal candidate would enjoy working in a fast paced environment; be able to prioritise and plan dispensing of medication to meet deadlines for delivery, providing leadership and direction to a small team; be an accuracy checker and have excellent communication skills to build and maintain good relationship with our service users. The post is based at Chorley hospital with some duties carried out at Royal Preston Hospital

Responsibilities include, managing the daily workload, planning, and scheduling of dispensing to meet clinic timetables and delivery schedules, provide leadership and management to pharmacy team, be the point of contact for LSCFT wards and outpatient clinics, training of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants. Core working hours are between 9:00 and 5:30. There is also a requirement to work one Saturday or Sunday every five weeks (you’ll then get a day off the following week) and one bank holiday a year. Weekend and Bank Holiday shifts have additional pay rates.

Your role will include but is not limited to:
• Responsible for planning, management, and organisation of the supply of medicines to LSFCT wards, departments, and outpatient clinics as per the Service Level Agreement
• Provide leadership to and manage the work of Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants, sessional accuracy checkers and sessional pharmacists
• To be a line manager for Pharmacy Technicians
• To ensure compliance with Clozapine Patient Management Service procedures for the safe supply of clozapine to LSCFT service users.
• Responsible for accurate and efficient management of pharmacy stock within the dispensary, in particular relating to the mental health service
• Systems Administrator for pharmacy IT systems
• Develop and deliver structured training programmes and competency assessments for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants
• To record and analyse performance and activity, ensuring departmental and Trust KPI targets are met.
• Develop, review and maintain standard operating procedures.
• Proactively manage risk and maintain safety, investigating incidents
• To ensure services are delivered and evaluated to meet service needs of LSCFT
• To continually look for ways to improve processes
• To contribute to, implement and champion pharmacy Cost Improvement Plan initiatives
• Deputise for the Pharmacy Technician Team Leader
