Senior Project Engineer - Civils

HOURS/DAYS

40 hours per week.
You may be required to work additional hours as per the business needs

LOCATION

Manchester

MAIN OBJECTIVES

Providing Engineering leadership and coaching whilst aiding efficient delivery of key client expectations & contract requirements whilst undertaking all aspects of engineering functions. Ensuring the compliance with all Engineering and Quality procedures together with safe working practices carrying out all works to the highest possible Health, Safety and environmental standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

(please note this is not an exhaustive list of duties but represents the main requirements of the role)

Acting as the main Engineering & technical lead.
Undertake engineering integration for works during the design and construction periods.
Identify key on site risks during design reviews and construction reviews.
Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
Undertake value engineering exercises during design and constructibility reviews.
Ensure any site engineers are competent in their roles and responsibilities and identify additional training requirements as necessary.
Accountability for the Setting out, levelling and surveying.
Ensure on site verification of setting out takes place and is recorded.
Provide input into design meetings and construction meetings on a periodic basis.
Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications.
Making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project.
Overseeing quality control and health and safety matters on site in line with ITP process.
Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
Efficient deployment of company resource with a good understanding of output and project efficiencies, task identification and leadership
Provide leadership and direction to individuals assigned to ensure the safe and efficient discharge of the works to specification and to a good standard of quality.
Ensure Right First-Time approach to all work. Zero defects.
Maintain professional approach positively reflecting the image of the company
Ensure works are carried out in a safe manner adhering to site specific Risk Assessment & Method Statements
Responsible for personnel welfare and adherence to CDM requirements
Deliver / Attend inductions / toolbox talks / all appropriate briefings
Support the pricing of tenders by defining programmes, developing methodologies and estimating labour, equipment and material requirements

Required Skills / Expertise

SKILLS/EXPERTISE

Education to HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent suitable experience.Experience of undertaking CRE Duties.
Experience of undertaking CEM duties. Desirable
Proven technical civil engineering ability
Driving Licence
PTS (Rail)
COSS (Rail)
Installation of structural steel installation and foundations experience
Knowledge of safety, quality and environmental procedures.
CAD experience - Preferred
Experience of NEC & ICE conditions of contract - Preferred
