SHEQ Project Partner
Role Purpose
The HSEQ Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on HSEQ matters to the OBB's infrastructure monitoring systems and services for the rail sector.
The HSEQ will be responsible for ensuring that the company's operations meet all applicable HSEQ standards and regulations in Rail sector.
Support and promote delivery of UK and Group Zero Harm Action Plans
Provide HSES input, from design to implementation, at a contract level.
Support the Director of HSES a in achieving Zero Harm objectives & strategy.
Drive performance of the HSEQ team ensuring efficient and effective service and support levels to meet and exceed operational requirements.
Collaboratively engage with both internal & external Customers including the Supply Chain
Support work winning teams with quality HSEQ responses for bids and proposals.
Embed a culture where health is treated like safety.
Challenge the norm by innovating and improving the way we work, whilst keeping pace with industry change and promote successes.
Embed HSEQ Strategy through strong safety leadership (visibility involvement engagement)
Accountabilities
- Provide expert advice and guidance on HSEQ matters to the OBBs infrastructure monitoring business unit.
- Develop and maintain HSEQ policies, procedures, and training materials.
- Conduct HSEQ audits and inspections.
- Provide expert support to investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events in accordance with Balfour Beatty Group Standards and BMS Requirements
- Produce formal reports using the Project Portal to record planned & unplanned HSES
inspections which review performance against the UK HSES Regulatory Framework & UK Business Management System (BMS) requirements.
- Support the delivery teams with the development & review of SSOW
- Promote Principles of Prevention and Hierarchy of Control throughout all stages of the Gated Lifecycle
- Manage HSEQ risk assessments.
- Prepare HSEQ documentation, such as safety data sheets and environmental impact.
- Maintain and develop wider HSEQ skills and knowledge through continual professional development and self-reflection
- Stay up to date on the latest HSEQ standards and regulations.
Represent the SME on HSEQ committees and working groups.
Personal Qualities & Experience
- Proven track record of success in providing HSEQ advice and guidance in a B2B SME environment.
- Strong knowledge of HSEQ standards and regulations, (ISO 27001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, & ISO 9001).
- Expertise in conducting HSEQ audits and investigations.
- Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH)
- Ability to communicate effectively to engage and converse at all levels and with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to influence and promote a positive HSES culture.
- Bachelor's degree in a HSEQ-related field, such as engineering, environmental science, or occupational health and safety.
- 5+ years of experience in HSEQ management.
Qualities / Experience Desirable:
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Experience in working with cross functional teams in Rail Sector and RISQS Accreditation
- Experience in developing and implementing HSEQ policies and procedures.
- Experience in conducting HSEQ training and awareness programs.
- Experience in representing the SME on HSEQ committees and working groups.
