Your new company
This owner-managed business consists of three companies and is based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
The largest of the three businesses is a medical technology company with a turnover of £10 million and employs 40+ people. With statutory contracts with the NHS and Local Authorities the business is continuing to see growth following the addition of new revenue streams and product lines. The group were offered the opportunity to acquire the electronic manufacturing business that supplied them with their hardware. They have now grown this to a turnover of £4million, employing 32 people.
You will report to the owner and Managing Director, who is himself a qualified accountant, and values the commercial input from his Finance team.
Your new role
As the Group Finance Controller, your role will be to have complete ownership of the group finance function with the support of 3 finance staff, and as things stand, will see you have a hands-on role in the production of the group\'s month end numbers and financial reporting.
One of your first duties, will be to review the current structure and delegation of duties to understand how best to shape the finance team, allowing it to add further value to the business. You will also begin the process of putting together a 3 to 5 year business plan that will give the group a clear direction an understanding of their growth opportunities.
Your current team consists of 2 transactional finance staff, meaning you will be extremely hand-on in the production of the month and management accounts, the posting of journals on the P&L. There is currently no budgeting and forecasting process in place, however this means that you will have the opportunity to have an instant impact on the financial performance of the group.
Finally, the owner is looking for this role to grow into a Finance Director who has the ability to identify opportunities where the business can grow and put in place a strategy that will facilitate this growth.
What you\'ll need to succeed
ACA, ACCA or CIMA with 5yrs PQE
We are looking for a Finance Controller who is willing to have a hands-on approach and with all elements of the finance function.
Supervision of all Accounting functions and where necessary, completion of essential tasks as required.
Experience in an SME / owner managed company or similar, at an equivalent level.
Exceptional accounting ability and drive to see work completed accurately and timely.
Team management and leadership - ability to handle a number of reports into this role, and report into the MD.
This role will require you to be a senior presence within the office in Aylesbury, meaning the ability to work from the office is essential.
As part of your role is looking at the overall strategy of the business, having experience of Financial planning under strategic finance is needed.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Business Central and implementation is desirable
