Then this rare and excitingopportunity for a permanent, part time Dementia Advisor role for Shetland may be for you or someone youknow.
Dementia Advisors provide advice, information, practical support, and develop social and therapeutic activities thatmeet the outcomes of local people affected by dementia.
You will support people living with dementia, their families, and carers to find their way through the health andsocial care system and have more meaningful conversations with decision makers in the local community, byencouraging people with dementia, and carers to be heard.
You will work with a range of external partners and colleagues to promote and develop a broader understanding of andpositive attitudes to dementia.
To be successful in the role you will be required to adopt and demonstrate a positive leadership approach for thesmall but effective team that will influence a positive culture of engagement in the local communities. Thiswill also include tasks related to maintaining the resource centre in Lerwick.
The postholder will be based in the Dementia Resource Centre, located in Lerwick, Shetland.
This is a very flexible role aimed at meeting the needs of people with dementia and their carers throughout thegeographical area Shetland. The focus and location of the post holder’s activity will vary from time to timedepending on the needs of the people we support, although he/she/they will have a fixed office base.
You will have a positive approach to dementia, have good communication and IT skills and poses a caring attitude. Awillingness to learn and participate in training is essential. Relevant qualifications and/or experience ofworking with people with dementia would be an advantage.

Are you a creative and motivated individual with the passion and drive to support people with a recent diagnosis ofdementia to live well in their community?
If so, you can be part of a National Team of Post Diagnostic Support Link Workers (PDS Link Workers) providinghigh-quality, person-centred support to people living with dementia and their families for a minimum of a yearfollowing diagnosis in line the Scottish Government’s minimum guarantee.
The aim of the PDS National Service is to enable people to live well with dementia and is centred around AlzheimerScotland's 5 pillar model so that people move on to a period of supported self- management.
The model includes understanding the illness and coming to terms with the diagnosis, peer support, connecting andmaintaining links with their community along with planning for future care and decision making to develop anoutcome focused plan to support their future hopes, desires and aspirations.
Supporting our Perth locality, the post will be based within the North Perthshire Community Mental Health Team.Alzheimer Scotland’s PDS Link Workers are required to be effective team workers and have the skills to build andmaintain relationships with colleagues both within Alzheimer Scotland, the NHS and other stakeholders.
Skills in using digital platforms are essential as we use a blended approach to support people that involve somevirtual meetings and on-line groups.
Applicants must hold a recognised relevant professional qualification, have a good understanding of dementia and howit affects people and their families along with excellent communication skills, a warm flexible approach,combined with skills in empathy and relationship building.
In addition, you should have skills and knowledge at the Enhanced Level of the Promoting Excellence Framework or beable to evidence you are working towards its completion.

We are looking for a unique individual to manage Alzheimer Scotland’s ‘Connect 2’ Befriending service inEdinburgh.
The Volunteer Co-ordinator is responsible for the recruitment, selection, induction and ongoing support to our teamof much valued Volunteers. Managing referrals and carrying out assessments to best meet the needs of peopleliving with dementia.
The key role of the Volunteer Co-ordinator is to identify suitable ‘matches’ for befriending relationships which willprovide companionship to people living with dementia.
Successful applicants will have a positive approach to dementia. You will also have good communication skills and acaring attitude. A willingness to learn and participate in training (including SVQ’s) is essential. Relevantqualifications and/or experience of working with people with dementia would be an advantage.
The post holder will be responsible for developing and facilitating a wide range of community activities for peopleliving with dementia and their carers/families with a view to helping them to maintain social activities,relationships and community connections.
Successful candidates will have a positive approach to dementia supported by excellent communication and networkingskills and an empathic, positive attitude. Having a creative flair and being a self-starter would also be anadvantage as well as having experience of working with people with dementia. A willingness to develop throughongoing learning is essential.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required and a driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential to therole.

You will be sensitive and compassionate with the ability to support people in timesof difficulty or distress. You will be an excellent communicator who can work effectively both with individualsand with groups. You will have a positive approach to your own continued professional development and awillingness to participate in relevant training. A relevant qualification and previous experience of workingwith people with dementia would be an advantage.
