TREES FOR CITIES
Location
London | United Kingdom
Job description
Trees for Cities is an independent national charity that engages local people and volunteers to plant, protect and promote trees in towns and cities worldwide. We cultivate lasting change in urban neighbourhoods by revitalising forgotten spaces, creating healthier places and getting people involved in their local environments. In a world facing unprecedented threats from climate change, loss of biodiversity, and disconnection from nature, our work has never been more urgent or important.
The charity has seen significant organisational growth and development over recent years; our level of staffing almost tripled across the three-year strategic period (2019-22). In 2023, our new Chief Executive introduced a new senior leadership team to boost capacity to lead a growing team. It is imperative that the Charity continues to evolve to support this growth and change as we move towards a new strategic phase from 2025.
We currently seek a new Trustee (HR) to join our Board who will provide strategic and advisory support to ensure that we effectively attract, recruit, develop and retain a diverse pool of talent through a motivated, well-supported staff team.
At Trees for Cities, we want to reflect and represent the full richness of diversity in the UK. Fewer of our employees or trustees are from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic groups, disabled, from lower socio-economic backgrounds, or under 25, so we are particularly keen to receive applications from one or more of these groups.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Trustee (HR) will maintain an overview of Trees for Cities’ people and talent, working closely with the CEO and Head of HR to oversee our People Plan.
This new role has been created to ensure that Trees for Cities is a frontrunner in the sector in regards to its HR systems and processes. In particular, we are committed to ensure that our team of trustees, staff and volunteers reflects the diversity of underserved communities that we engage and involve in our work programmes.
The Trustee will work closely with the Chair, other Trustees, the CEO, the Head of HR, and other senior staff to support the charity in pursuing its vision and mission and achieving its agreed objectives.
In addition to the skills, experience and qualities required of all Trustees, the Trustee (HR) will have significant experience of human resources and talent management across a range of organisations.
