Surgery Focused Registered Veterinary Nurse

We accept referrals for Orthopaedic Surgery, Soft Tissue Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Cardiology, Anaesthesia, Dermatology, Diagnostic Imaging, Oncology, Physiotherapy as well as Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) and a Pain Clinic. We have comprehensive and established clinical and non-clinical programmes for training, development and CPD. You can find us in Hampshire, just south of Winchester, close to the M3 and national and international transport links. We are in a serene countryside setting with state-of-the-art facilities and are available to look after pets 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Your role and responsibilities Our varied case load guarantees that you will be able to utilise your nursing skills to their full potential in a highly rewarding environment. As w e continue to expand our clinical services we believe in a collaborative approach to challenging cases with a strong emphasis on quality of care. As a Surgery RVN your role will include working alongside our current surgical and rotating nursing team s to provid e an exceptional level of care both in and outside of the theatre s for our surgical patients. The position involves the monitoring of general anaesthesia and sedation for soft tissue, orthopaedic and neurology patients having imaging and surgical procedures. E fficient preparation of patients for theatre including clipping, surgical preparation, assisting the anaesthesia team with nerve blocks, placement of arterial lines and central line catheters (full training will be given for this). A dditionally , you will have some Theatre stock and maintenance responsibilities shared with the existing th eatre staff. Applications for this position on a full or part time basis would be considered and some flexi bility around shift patterns /working days can be discussed . Participation in the weekend rota on a 1 :5 Saturday or Sunday day shift would be required alongside a rotation into the late procedure shift . The weekend shift rotation would be in patient care focused involve as well as assisting with out of hours emergencies, procedures, and surgery.
