Test Engineer (Node.js) (Inside IR35)

Contract Term: 12 Months

Contracting Authority: Department for Work and Pensions

Location: Hybrid – Blackpool, Manchester or Newcastle

As a Test Engineer your main responsibilities will be: 

• Part of an agile delivery team, responsible for the delivery of a number of applications (Payment Dates, Strategic Calendar Management Service, Remittance Service).
• Testing of applications which make up citizen services.
• Build and deliver comprehensive, robust and reliable automated test frameworks and automation suites to provide full coverage of business requirements.
• Ensure that usability, accessibility, security, stability and capacity are embedded in the development of citizen services.
• Create and maintain appropriate documentation within the test automation code base.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to Test Engineering team members.
• Defining the appropriate depth and breadth of testing using a risk-based approach, and ensuring the stability, robustness and reliability of test suites.
• Identify and drive resolution of defects or issues preventing delivery of Test Engineering activities.
• You will work with other teams within the Software Development Lifecycle to ensure that technical solutions are aligned.
  

You’ll have relevant experience in:

• Experience of testing in Nodejs / Javascript using Webdriver and Cucumber (Nodejs/ JavaScript as the language used to write tests as opposed to just testing Node applications).
• Experience with applications written in Node.js.
• Test automation, using frameworks or tools like WebdriverIO and Cypress.
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary Agile Team.
• Agile delivery principles, methodology and tools.
• Mentoring and upskilling junior testing resource.
• Proficiency in working with MongoDB or equivalent databases
• Understanding of CI/CD and Gitlab Pipelines.
• Understanding of AWS Infrastructure and Terraform.
