Teacher of Latin and Classical Civilisation

Full time (part time considered)- commence Autumn Term 2024

It is an exciting time to join the staff team at Cobham Free School - we are now established in our fantastic new premises this year, and grown to capacity, admitting pupils from Reception to Sixth Form in the all through school.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, professional teacher, keen to grow their career in our innovative school.  ECTs are most welcome to apply, we are experienced in offering support in conjunction with local partnerships and bespoke in-house support. Equally, we welcome applications from experienced teachers seeking a refreshing change.

The CFS Classics department has grown from strength to strength and the teaching of Latin and Classics are integral to the school vision, to provide enhanced opportunities to all.

All pupils study Latin for 70 mins a week in KS3 as well as studying a modern language. They can decide to continue with Latin at GCSE level as their language option. Occasionally an additional GCSE Latin class has been run as option subject, if there is enough demand. 

Classical Civilisation is a popular GCSE option subject and we also now have our first A level Classical Civilisation cohort. Ancient Greek is offered as an optional off timetable extra.

Candidates should be able to teach Latin to GCSE and preferably Classical Civilisation to A Level.
