Plumbing and Heating Engineer required to cover day to day responsive maintenance and break downs to council owned properties.
Opportunity to cover out of hours call out rota
Qualifications – CCN1, CENWAT, CKR 1, HTR 1, CPA 1.
JOB PURPOSE
1.1 The Post Holder will be responsible to the Assistant District Maintenance Officer for day to day maintenance, repair works and new build construction of Flintshire housing stock and other Council-owned properties.
2.0 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
2.1 To carry out all aspects of plumbing and related work including domestic, water service systems, rainwater pipes, soil stacks, sanitary fittings and all associated works, tiling, minor plastering work.
2.2 To be able to work from detailed specifications and drawings.
2.3 To collect orders and instruction, complete documentation such as works orders and timesheets, and return completed documentation to Assistant District Maintenance Officer on a daily basis.
2.4 To work alone, or with trades, carry out work at council-owned properties to provide a quality customer driven service to set standards to our customers.
2.5 To identify, be responsible and accountable for the ordering, collection, safe storage and use of materials.
2.6 To respond to emergency needs such as entering properties for emergency services, make safe any damage as required.
2.7 To report any defects/damage of tools, plant or vehicles to the Assistant District Maintenance Officer.
2.8 To ensure full compliance with all safety procedures and requirements of statutory legislation and report all Health and Safety issues to the Assistant District Maintenance Officer, or supervising officer, immediately.
2.9 To use, maintain and keep clean any allocated transport, tools and plant, protective workwear, mobile telephones and any other equipment allocated to employee within Corporate and Departmental procedures.
2.10 To carry out occasional specialised work, such as asbestos removal, in accordance with safe working practices.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
6.1 Must be apprentice trained and time served and/or hold an appropriate craft qualification, minimum City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3.
6.2 Experience of assessing/inspecting plumbing works and undertaking fault finding and diagnostic work.
6.3 Experience of, and ability to use, the required portable power tools.
6.4 Experience of working as an electrician in a repair/maintenance and contracting environment.
6.5 Knowledge, and experience, of working within all Health and Safety Legislation relevant to the construction industry.
6.6 Experience of working on own initiative and within a team.
6.7 Able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people.
