Shift Manager, Kinnerton Confectionery, Sherburn-in-Elmet Site
Kinnerton Confectionery in Sherburn-in-Elmet (north Yorkshire) are seeking a new Shift Manager to join our team. As a Shift Manager at Kinnerton, you will lead a team of Team Leaders, Production/Machine Operatives, Packers and Technicians. You will be a hands-on, inspiring manager who is able to collaborate with other departments, ensuring that production plans are achieved.
You will lead diverse teams, manage automation technology, product changeovers and health and safety all whilst motivating your team with a key focus on people development. You will be a key member of the site management team, driving company values and goals to ensure Kinnerton remains a high quality chocolate supplier for all major retailers.
Shift Pattern:
12-hour days and nights. You MUST be able to work both. All shifts include x1 30-minute breaks and x2 15-minute breaks.
Week 1: Sunday to Tuesday 18:00 - 06:00 (3 nights followed by 5 days off)
Week 2: Monday to Tuesday 06:00 - 18:00 & Wednesday to Thursday 18:00 - 06:00 (2 days followed by 2 nights followed by 5 days off)
Week 3: Wednesday to Friday 06:00 - 18:00 (followed by 1 day off, then start again on week 1)
- Work closely with other Area Managers and departments such as Planning, Process, Engineering and Logistics, you will ensure production plans are achieved in the most timely and efficient manner and that performance KPI’s are met.
- Ensure the site complies with required statutory and mandatory H&S and Environmental requirements.
- Conduct employee reviews and ensure effective actions are taken to address issues affecting performance and counter measures are put in place to prevent reoccurrence.
- Promote the behavioral quality culture within the shift team through a non-negotiable approach to compliance and a proactive approach to improvement.
- Ensure all production personnel are trained and competent in food safety, SOPs and QAS specifications relating to their role and comply with all rules and procedures concerning the production of safe food produced to specification.
- Lead the production operation in accordance with the Production Plan to agreed KPIs.
- Actively own and develop the site training and development plan for shift team.
- Determine labour resource and costs, also working with temporary agency providers.
- Determine materials usage requirements and costs., ensuring waste streams are controlled.
- Lead the development implementation of lean across the site by deploying lean tools and techniques in conjunction with workforce engagement to hold the gains.
- Develop a high performing actively engaged shift team.
- Support projects with a continuous improvement approach.
- Attend management team meetings and champion your shift.
- Accountable for the working environment and the maintenance and improvement of the standards at all times meeting with (and exceeding) company requirements, whilst being a role model to all other employees.
Essential
- Health and Safety Level 3 / IOSH Leading safely certification or ability to pass the qualification
- HACCP L3 or ability to pass the qualification
- Food Safety Level 3
- Experience in manufacturing production management experience.
- Experience in a FMCG operation.
- Knowledge and application of ISO14001, and other quality standards
- Competent in managing first and second line people issues such as attendance management, disciplinary procedure and performance and behavioral based appraisals
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) at all levels
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural environments and overcoming language barriers
- Ability to challenge the team and foster a constructive challenging culture
- Competent in using and coaching problem solving tools and experience of applying lean tools to working environment
- Commercial understanding of run-rates, productivity levels and quality issues
- Good IT skills including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and planning software
Desirable
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- HACCP Level 4
- Food Hygiene Level 4
- BRC or equivalent standards of operation
- Greenbelt trained – understand special vs common cause
