Job description
This role is an exciting opportunity for an Humanities teacher with a passion for their subject who is able to inspire our students and reinforce their love and learning.
You will be joining our expanding and highly successful team of mutually supportive colleagues whose shared purpose is to make a positive difference to the aspirations of our students.
Atlantic Academy Portland is an all-through school situated on the beautiful Jurassic coast. The successful candidate who fills this Humanities Teacher vacancy will enjoy these breathtaking sea views.
This role is one that has freedom and flexibility in order for you to make it your own and inspire our students. You will be part of a successful, supportive, well-resourced and fully qualified Humanities team that prides itself on delivering high-quality learning to our students. This role will suit an individual who is also team-orientated. Other key attributes include having a can-do approach in order to mitigate barriers to learning and a desire to help students achieve their full potential.
In Humanities, our intent is for the curriculum to promote a curiosity about the world in which our students live. The curriculum will enable our students to be confident to understand and ask questions about the world around them. We want them to take a responsible attitude towards the world and adopt a lifelong interest in Humanities subjects. We will support our learners to develop skills that are transferable across all subjects and employment in later life, developing their knowledge to enable them to thrive in and beyond lessons. Our goal is for learners to leave Atlantic Academy with the ability to ‘think’’ and be inspired to continue the study of Humanities Post-16.
Students study AQA for Humanities subjects at GCSE at Key Stage 4.
At Atlantic Academy we guide and nurture our staff and pupils in equal measure. We encourage best practice through CPD through fortnightly sessions designed to boost your teaching career and sense of wellbeing. In-house research-lead CPD includes raising the attainment of underachieving males and cognitive science.
