Pay rate: £12.05 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

This opening assignment is for 3-4 months

City: ILKESTON, Derbyshire

Primarily office based role with occasional working from home with line manager approval

A Business Services Officer is required to manage the provision of a flexible, agile and responsive business support service across the Supported Accommodation/Staying Close service. The service strengthens support for those leaving care by improving their connection with the community and family, while improving their mental health and wellbeing, while making positive steps towards independence. To supervise and performance manage a team of business services staff to deliver a broad range of business service support including the provision of expert advice and guidance on policies, procedures and processes. Will be based in Bloomsgrove, Ilkeston, but will also be required to work from The Pod, Chesterfield, S40 2NT.

Key responsibilities:

Manage a team of business services staff to provide an efficient and effective business support function ensuring services are delivered to agreed targets and objectives and meet quality standards.
Ensure the effective co-ordination of work streams to manage business support within own area of responsibility to support peaks and troughs in business need.
Provide, through advice and guidance to social care professionals, operational managers and employees on relevant policies, processes and procedures ensuring compliance with appropriate regulations and legislation.
Effectively manage the continual development of members of the team, setting objectives and monitoring performance.
Responsible for monitoring budgets and the analysis, manipulation and presentation of information and data to inform operational and financial decisions.
Undertake research and project work under direction of the Business Service Manager.
Work flexibly across Children’s Services Business Services functions providing effective administrative support possibly at a different location as required.

Experience:

Supervisor experience and ability.
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.

Knowledge:

Clear understanding of standards and regulations set for the output of the role/team.
Thorough knowledge of administrative practices and processes.
Comprehensive knowledge and experience of relevant procedures.
Detailed knowledge of data protection and GDPR in relation to business services

Skills & Abilities:

Proven initiative and judgement to research and resolve problems independently of/through a support team.
Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and allocate work to meet targets and standards.
Ability to research, interpret, analyse and present information and data and make recommendations.
Advanced ICT skills with ability to maximise systems and technologies to achieve efficiencies.
