Job description
What you will do in your working day
During the apprenticeship, you will typically learn how to produce parts by programming, setting up and operating CNC laser fabrication machines. You will be required to work in a team, work to tight timescales, solve complex mathematical problems and communicate well with others.
You will gain the ability to do the following -
- Read engineering drawings.
- Work to tight drawing tolerances.
- Be competent on all aspects of setting the machines.
- Strong experience using measurement/inspection equipment.
- The ability to load the feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- The ability to carry out deburring of machined components during production cycles ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Maintain work areas in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
The training you will be getting
Level 2 Engineering operative standard.
Year 1 - EAL L2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills) (Mandatory)
- EAL AUEC2-005 (Hand Fitting) 5 weeks
- EAL AUEC2-006 (Mechanical) 5 weeks (or can be milling, turning or welding)
- EAL AUEC2-010 (Electrical) 5 weeks (or can be milling, turning or welding)
- EAL AUEC2-004 (BIT) 1 week
End point assessment.
All training will be done on site in the workplace.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
Full time position upon completion of apprenticeship.
