Job Title: Carer

Responsible to: The employer

Hours: 15 Hours per week

(Additional hours available to cover sleep-in support available)

Work Pattern: 16:00-21:00

3 days a week

Additional hours available during non term time when day centre is closed.

Hourly Rate of Pay: £11.85 per hour

 

Sleep-in Rate: £85.50 per shift

Based at: The home address in Newark, Nottingham NG24 1 and local community.

Job Purpose

You will be supporting a 27-year-old gentleman with cerebral palsy to access the community and be happy and occupied in his own home. Sleep-in support is also part of this role which is worked on a rota basis.

The gentleman enjoys being around people and would like his personal assistant to support him and participate in his chosen social activities such as bowling, shopping, football matches etc.

Personal Care – There are aspects of personal care involved in role including showering, dressing enema & catheter care. The employer will provide any necessary training.

Medication – You will be required to support with medication needs as instructed in the care plan. You will be required to record any medications given. The employer will provide any necessary training.

Mobility – The gentleman is wheelchair dependant and is hoisted for all transfers. The employer will provide any necessary training. The family have their own vehicle to transport.

 

Meal Provision – The gentleman has a (PEG) feeding tube however does have a pureed diet and fortisip drinks. You will be required to support with meal provision.

Social Support – You will need to support the gentleman to access the services he already uses and also other community-based activities such as bowling and attending football matches. The gentleman will also need support whilst at home and to attend any appointments.

Have experience of working with vulnerable adults.

Flexible in the hours and times that you can work.

Be patient and supportive.

Be honest, reliable, and trustworthy. 

Be respectful of the employer’s dignity, at all times.

Understand the need for privacy and confidentiality.

You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.

Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.

A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.

You should have some knowledge and understanding of risks.

Have an awareness and knowledge of equal opportunities.

Have a full driving licence

The post carries a 6-month probationary period.
