Technologist

A market-leading materials testing business based in Leatherhead is recruiting a Technologist to join the Packaging and Materials team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for ensuring the laboratory equipment calibrations are up to date, undertaking test work in the laboratory and providing general administrative support to the materials testing group.

The Role

Co-ordinate group calibration requirements with suppliers

Provide weekly cover for the Materials Testing administrator.

To conduct testing work for the Primary Packaging and Materials department under the supervision of the Senior Consultant Print & Security

To ensure test work is carried out efficiently and to the highest standard.

To provide test results to the highest standard, including appropriate observations

To ensure safe working and a high standard of housekeeping and that all HS&E requirements are met.

Ensure equipment is calibrated in line with annual schedule and processed in accordance with the Quality Manual

Deliver timely, high-quality data and produce standard reports.

Ensure high standard of cover for Materials Testing administrator.

Maintain highest standards of housekeeping particularly with respect to storage of materials, chemicals, solvents, and customer samples. (Labs only)

Take all reasonable steps to ensure own safety and that of others.

Comply with all health and safety information, instruction, and training as it relates to the individual, role and organisation.

Assist with ensuring that the relevant quality accreditation is maintained through full procedural compliance.

Undertake such other reasonable duties and responsibilities appropriate to the position as may be allocated by management from time to time.

Experience Required

Scientific background and education are essential.

Computer literate in Word and Excel software.

Happy to work in a team environment, and confident to work with little supervision.

Previous administrative and laboratory experience is desirable.

A methodological approach and the ability to plan, organise and manage the workload.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong team player.

Practical skills, comfortable working on practical/technical tasks

Enthusiasm and inquisitive mindset.
