If so, join us as a JDO Layout Team Lead and you’ll join one of the most exciting and ambitious projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

The Opportunity… 

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) established in 2023, is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Directorate has been created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E. 

For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK. 

The NSA (Nuclear Services Agreement) Project Directorate team is leading the Consortium and is responsible for the overall project management of the NSA execution. The NSA is expected to be signed in 2024.


At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.


We are recruiting for a JDO Layout Team Lead , for the Hinkley Point C (HPC)/Sizewell C (SZC) project, who will work on technical topics related in the scope of works of the Responsible Designer for all buildings allocated.

What you’ll be doing…

As a JDO Layout Team Lead, your day-to-day activities will include: 

•    Leading the quality relative to modification of the design on the allocated scope
•    Leading and monitoring requests in his scope of delegated authority,
•    Challenging requests and any other topics from the contractors and HPC.
•    Assigning activities to Layout Building Lead and potentially directly to Layout Engineer (depending on
the autonomy of the Engineer, should be necessary to give a clear definition, a level of priority and
a deadline).
•    Managing and arbitrating workload
•    Detailing, proposing solutions and coordinating the resolution of requests with staff in other JDO-DT
discipline and/or in the back-offices,
•    Check the activities performed by other Layout Engineer to guaranty a high level of quality and right
first time.
•    Support the JDO discipline lead regarding the overall needs of the discipline (production, training,
quality, recruitment)
•    Approving JDO-DT site query answer.
•    Approving update of deliverables previously issued by the back-office teams and updated by the JDO
teams.
•    Gathering all OPEX in Layout scope and put in place action to improve the team (quality, delivery, …)
•    The JDO Layout Team Lead reports to the Discipline Layout Lead achievements, progresses and
difficulties regarding his activities and raises alerts on any aspects of the design when identified.

Who you are…

•    Science, engineering degree or equivalent
•    Extensive experience in design and/or Layout topics in the following disciplines: civil work, layout,
piping, HVAC, Elec.
•    Extensive knowledge and understanding of layout rules for Nuclear project.
•    Knowledge of the general operation of nuclear power station and the associated safety aspects
(in particular, aspects relating to flooding, fire, radiological protection, etc.).
•    Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software.
•    Experience working in a multicultural environment.
•    Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies/doctrine is a real asset. 
•    Good Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability.
•    Good organisational, writing and oral expression skills, are essential for the realization
of the activities of document production, steering and interfaces with the various correspondents.

Your background may include some of the following:

•    French speaking advantageous
•    Experience in the management of transverse technical topics
•    Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand the
imperatives of other disciplines.
•    Ability to meet commitments and deadlines.
