Exciting times await in AO's Data team as we embark on a journey to migrate to a cutting-edge Lakehouse architecture with AWS technologies and Power BI. As a crucial member, you'll dive into hands-on tasks, prototyping solutions, and testing ideas collaboratively across the Data team and with stakeholders.
Your mission extends to developing precise data models, reports, and visualizations within deadlines. Working closely with the Data Engineering team, you'll play a vital role in modernizing our Data Pipelines to meet AO's ever-growing data demands. Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing
- Understanding requirements: Working alongside the analytical analyst to understand stakeholder analytical requirements. Translating logical to physical designs.
- Collaborating with Data Engineers: you will work hand in hand with our data engineering team, providing input to the requirements for the data infrastructure.
- Designing the schema and tables for optimal performance: determining the best way to structure tables, define relationships between them, and optimising the schema for efficient data retrieval and analysis.
- Transforming data for analysis: cleansing, normalising and aggregating data to improve data quality and optimise for analysis.
- Owning, developing, and maintaining Data Models: Developing, testing, implementing and documenting analytical models that provide the analysts of the business the ability to gain insight into the data. You will be responsible for ensuring models are scalable and flexible and will work alongside our DBAs to enhance query performance.
- Ensuring data integrity and accuracy: performing data quality checks, handling missing values, and verifying data consistency to maintain data reliability.
- Security and Access Control: implementing appropriate security measures and managing user access and privileges. Ensuring that the security model and policies in place protect our sensitive data and are compliant with regulatory requirements.

You’ll be passionate about data and analytics, have great attention to detail and a drive to produce high quality solutions.
You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently between multiple tasks in different technologies.
You’ll have experience working in agile environments, and be a self-motivated, team player that the team can depend on, offering input and advice on processes and practices to improve the BI Team.
You’ll have hands experience with the following technologies, as well as strong SQL skills and a good understanding of querying and query optimisation, dimensional modelling design and data visualisation techniques:* Redshift
- Glue
- S3 storage
- Prior experience with Power BI including DAX
- Prior experience with DBT
- Testing of BI & Analytics solutions
- Exposure to other Business Intelligence Products
- Experience with source control processes
- Passion for good data visualisation
