Our Trading Standards Team offers opportunities to enhance your technical knowledge & expertise in a county that is growing economically and socially. Wiltshire’s Public Protection Service brings together food and health & safety, trading standards, animal health, environmental protection, licensing, anti-social behaviour and pest control. Trading standards are the petroleum enforcement authority for Wiltshire and are responsible for ensuring safety at sites where petrol is delivered, stored and dispensed. We also license the storage and retail supply of explosives (fireworks). As a Public Protection Officer, you will license, enforce and advise on a variety of legislation covering petroleum and explosives and assist with other trading standards work where required. You will work alongside a supportive team who are experienced and knowledgeable professionals. You will have the chance to develop specialist knowledge to support the wider team. We are seeking a candidate who ideally has previous experience, however if you do not have prior experience in trading standards, a strong grasp of legal concepts, health and safety or regulatory enforcement would be beneficial.
