Job description

Project 3 Mobility is looking for an experienced full vehicle CAS Modeller to work as part of a focused team, delivering the future of mobility. You will be an expert in digital modelling from sketch to class A, with attention to detail and flexibility to deliver to programme objectives.

You should be accustomed to following direction, yet proactive in your approach, considering not just you own, but colleagues and wider disciplines objectives. Strong problem solving skills are a must and in applying for this role, you should want to demonstrate through your experience and expertise, why you are ready to redefine the world as we know it.

Who and what will you be working with?

Embedded within a small, passionate team, you should be highly motivated, results driven team player that can meet tight deadlines. You have strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and conscientiously, and you will be reporting to the Head of Surface.

We’re using Microsoft Office, Atlassian and other tools to keep our work running smoothly, so you can expect to deal with things like MS Teams, JIRA tickets, Smartsheets, etc., on daily basis. 

What will you be responsible for?

• Develop from concept stage to production-ready quality for tooling release
• Deliver digital models, based on sketch and verbal instructions
• Be a great communicator, our ability to be one team in multiple locations is vital.
• Time critical implementation of design changes during development phases
• Review designs to ensure manufacturing feasibility, quality of the surface and for the technical verification of the components
• Plan and prioritize your own workload
• Ensure that the targets for our projects are met regarding time, cost, and quality
• Thoroughly compare new status with old status and understand the effect
• Capturing the design intent in the best possible way, reworking as often as needed within time constraints.
• Ready CAS data/parts according to project timing and/or agreed deadlines
• Ready CAS data/parts according to surfacing standards (correct naming, tolerances, grouping, layers)
• Keep data in a systematic way so it is easy to navigate for colleagues to pick up and continue work
• Engage in fruitful discussion with designers and other colleagues and give honest feedback on issues
• Having all the information on the tips (easy to find)
• Raise IT tickets immediately, when IT problems occurs

Who are we looking for?

• Expert knowledge of Alias Surface/Automotive is a basic requirement
• Knowledge of Polygon modelling and sub division is a big advantage
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Good understanding of surfacing creation and release workflow
• Strong technical understanding
• The ability to work within an fast paced environment
• Be able to read design vision and sketch and react in 3D
• Willingness to learn, discipline and persistence
• Understanding of VR software
• Knowledge of multiple software packages and ability to select the relevant ‘tool for the task’
• Must have a valid proof of right to work in the UK
• Strong interest in Automotive technology
• Microsoft teams’ knowledge an advantage
• Expertise in digital modelling from sketch to class A
