Job description
The expectation is that the successful applicant would work in both the Cath Lab and the ward/recovery area to develop and enhance their clinical skills to ensure they are transferable around the department. The candidate should have excellent communication, enthusiasm, organisational skills and be able to work flexibly.
The candidate will ideally have relevant Cath Lab or Cardiology experience however this is not essential as an internal teaching and training programme is provided. The successful applicant will be expected to have completed or be prepared to embark on the ILS (immediate life support) course.
Your main duties within the Cath Lab would be to care for patients pre and post procedures when working within our day ward/recovery bay. This will include being responsible for admitting patients, performing pre procedure safety checks, offering emotional support if required pre and post procedure and caring for the patient up to the point of discharge or transfer to the ward.
Within the cardiac Cather Lab training will be given in both circulating/monitoring the patient as well as scrubbing for procedures such as angiogram/angioplasty’s and implantation of devices such as pacemakers and ICD’s.
Clinical skills - Venepuncture; cannulation and IV drug administration skills would be ideal, but not essential.
