Infrastructure Engineer - Unified Communications
Hybrid Working - Epsom (1-2 days) | Technology | Fixed-Term 12 Month Contract
Full-Time: 37.5 hours per week

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll show demonstrable experience working in a modern ITIL-based IT service organisation, ability to collaborate effectively, and experience of managing a complex, national multi-site infrastructure. You'll be an analytical thinker, with experience of using data to drive action and a good understanding of healthcare engineering.
As an Infrastructure Unified Communications Engineer, you will be part of the team responsible for the development and delivery of Microsoft 365 based Cloud Services. The primary responsibility will be for services relating to unified communication. You'll contribute to a wide variety of projects and from time to time will be expected to assist or lead a project strand or small project along with:2nd and 3rd Line Support tickets focusing on email, telephony and other O365 issues.
Collaborate in the deployment of new solutions based on architectural designs.
Maintain existing cloud-based applications and tools along with associated on-premises components, flagging conflicts to the Lead Infrastructure Engineer.
Resolve faults, carry out daily checks, propose improvements and provide general support across our services and applications.
Good understanding of Microsoft Exchange Online. Knowledge of Exchange 2010 - 2019 preferred but not essential.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues related to unified communications systems to ensure optimal performance.
Integration: Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate unified communication systems with existing infrastructure, ensuring compatibility and security.
Monitoring and Optimization: Continuously monitor system performance, conduct system upgrades, and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant regulations in all unified communication systems.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, addressing their unified communication-related queries and issues.
Training: Conduct training sessions for end-users and IT staff on using Microsoft Unified Communications tools effectively.
Improve user satisfaction by ensuring that support requests are handled efficiently, politely, professionally and in an empathetic manner.
Ensure that documentation is produced and maintained.
Provide technical support for the Operations and Service Desk teams.
Work with our InfoSec team to ensure that systems are configured and maintained to provide the appropriate security and resilience.
Assist in the decommissioning of systems and applications at the end of their life cycle.
You'll have a proactive contribution to the development of Nuffield Health Microsoft 365 Services including:
Implementation of new systems, including configuration, testing, migration, training and managing from project to live service.
Leading projects or project strands and contributing to projects as required.
Keeping abreast of relevant Microsoft 365 technologies especially those in the unified communication area's (Exchange, Teams, Security & Compliance, Azure AD)
The below Microsoft 365 Certifications would be preferred, but not essential:
Fundamentals
Messaging Administrator Associate
Teams Administrator Associate
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
Proven experience working with Microsoft Unified Communications technologies.
Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Microsoft Unified Communications Engineer certifications or similar
Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols.
Knowledge of VoIP, SIP, and related technologies.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest technology trends in unified communications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and integration.
Knowledge of cloud-based unified communication solutions.
Experience with video conferencing equipment (Polycom)
Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation.
Familiarity with third-party unified communication tools and integrations.
