Job description

We have an excellent opportunity to secure a 6 month contract working within a vibrant Local Authority in Devon.

Your work will focus on dealing with a caseload of minor and house holder planning applications and you will be providing expert technical advice at every stage. On a daily basis you will be completing reports, carrying out site visits where required and representing the Council at committee.

To apply you will ideally have recent experience within a local authority development management team, however, consultancy experience is also welcome. A good grasp of UK planning legislation is required and you will need to have good communication skills and a positive attitude towards furthering your knowledge and gaining more technical experience. The role is likely to suit someone looking for that first or second move after gaining some solid work experience and feeling ready to take no more responsibility and career development. A relevant town planning degree is required.

The role is based in Devon and will pay £35 - £40/hr umbrella depending on your experience. This role is insider IR35.

Whilst home working is possible (own laptop would need to be supplied) the officer must be available to attend for site visits on a regular basis – it is likely this could be achieved through one day every 2 weeks.
