Job description

Accountable for own actions in accordance with Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute towards corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times. To develop, maintain and audit clinics for liver related conditions to reduce length of stay and Emergency Department attendance for hepatology patients. To facilitate a faster discharge process for patients who require a watch and wait approach to clinical management through regular observations/follow up for patients with hepatological conditions rather than the traditional practice of inpatient care. To liaise with the multidisciplinary team to maintain patient care pathways for jaundiced patients. To develop the Hepatology CNS staff to provide cover during leave and assist in long term succession planning To ensure that new recommendations and guidelines are adapted into clinical practice, in line with current research, to ensure the best outcome for the patient. To provide clinical leadership and professional education as part of a multidisciplinary team approach to enhance the patient care pathway. To forge links and partnership working with the multidisciplinary team with expertise in the field of hepatology eg, surgeons, community drug and alcohol services, oncologists To assist in the line management of the Hepatology CNS team, ensuring that professional standards/local protocols are maintained. To promote the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust as a National Leader and a centre of excellence in Hepatology and engage in research.
