We are currently seeking a talented Project Accountant to join our team. You will be an integral part of our Customer Support & Training department, specifically working on the Integrated Merlin Operational Support (IMOS) program.

This is a unique chance to provide financial direction and advice to the program leadership, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and contractual obligations.

Here's what you'll be responsible for:

Collaboration: Represent finance within the Program IPT(s), working alongside other functional leads as part of the IPT construct.

Systems Support: Provide assistance to the rest of CS&T finance, particularly with month-end and budgetary Excel consolidations, as well as wider SAP support.

Streamlined Processes: Work with other project accountants to establish a common approach for similar programs, promoting efficiency and best practices.

As the Project Accountant for the IMOS program, you will have financial responsibility within the CS&T Finance team. This includes accurate preparation of monthly forecasts, reporting, and annual budgeting in compliance with accounting standards and company policy. Additionally, you will:

• Conduct monthly cash forecast reviews with the project team, focusing on out-of-scope tasks.
• Maintain a clean balance sheet, ensuring a clear understanding of all balances, such as WIP, debtors, and customer advances.
• Adhere to strict month-end timetables, ensuring accurate presentation of all projects for senior review.
• Support external audit requirements promptly and accurately.
• Drive financial leadership and control into the program, analyzing contracts, providing reporting and direction to enhance performance.

Your role will also involve partnering with the business to fulfill forecasting and budgeting requirements associated with contracts. You'll monitor and report on contract performance and provide timely and accurate financial reporting. In addition, you'll handle ad-hoc requests, problem-solving to deliver well-considered, accurate, and timely solutions.

To excel in this position, you should possess the following qualifications:

• Professional qualification as an accountant.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills across different levels of the organisation.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Influential mindset and drive to implement change.
• Proficiency in Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, etc.) is essential, and knowledge of SAP and BI would be advantageous.
• Flexibility in your approach to work and occasional travel when required.

Here are some important dimensions of the role:

• Managing a turnover of over £170m across the IMOS projects.
• Close involvement in bidding for out-of-scope activities and follow-on contracts.
• Developing strong working relationships with the IMOS project teams, including project managers, planners, commercial and governance teams.
• Deputizing for the CS&T Senior Project Accountant as needed.
• Regular remote working with occasional on-site support and attendance at IMOS program meetings.
• Maintaining availability and keeping up-to-date with Outlook for smooth operations.
