About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We’re proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base ‘home’ location to be one of our SSEN offices – Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Salary: £45,400 – £68,200 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The Whole System Commercial Policy Manager contributes to the delivery of the commercial business objectives of SSEN Transmission through engaging with industry long term reform. Working closely with all levels of the business, the role will seek to understand internal and external challenges facing the business that relate to, or could be impacted upon by, long term industry reform. Having identified gaps or impacts, they will develop policy positions and work across industry and government to get those positions implemented. The role will also be the representative of SSEN Transmission in the ongoing development of industry policies, processes and procedures and the forums where these are discussed.

– You will be the subject matter expert for industry commercial policy reform for whole system working. Able to articulate the impacts on SSEN Transmission and its stakeholders and the transition to Net Zero. Examples include development of local area energy plans and DSO transition.

– Where the need for policy intervention is identified, you will develop SSEN Transmission positions using analysis to understand impacts, risks and timescales. Working with stakeholders across industry to communicate impacts and identify associated positions. Develop plans to implement company policy positions through working with external stakeholders including Scottish Government, Ofgem, Local Authorities and other industry participants.

– Responsible for monitoring ongoing commercial and regulatory policy operations, identifying potential impacts as well as using ongoing reforms to advance SSEN Transmission policy ambitions.

– Support a safety culture that will constructively oppose unsafe behaviour and praise positive behaviour. Model the safety ethos, through participative and visible commitment to SHE. Ensure all Company safety rules and procedures are effectively applied during normal business activity associated with role.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

– Thorough understanding of the GB Networks businesses gained in a commercial, regulatory or legal environment

– Experience in dealing with external stakeholders including System Operator, other transmission owners, Ofgem, DESNZ, Government departments (UK and Scottish Gov) and key industry bodies

– Sound business and technical knowledge of the Networks business

– Excellent planning and organisational skills

– Proven ability to seek to improve or change the “status quo” propose imaginative, appropriate solutions and implement innovative business improvements
