£10,187 per annum rising to £20,104 per annum on the second year

The Role:

People Operations sits within the People and Transformation function, to influence both the customer and employee experience in a key area of employee engagement. Working collaboratively across P&T and the wider Council, People Operations proactively supports our workforce and the embedding of our People Plan. Providing a comprehensive service, the team is investing in new technology to better support our users and enable an empowered self-service and support function for Essex County Council (ECC).

The Recruitment Consultant Apprentice will work with the recruitment team, supporting with the day-to-day recruitment activity for the external services team, working in partnership with our clients to provide a tailored and bespoke service to meet their needs. Contributing to the attraction of temporary and permanent talent, with the objective of supporting ECC's ambition to directly hire our own talent and maximise cost saving opportunities.

This role presents an opportunity to learn, whilst working towards a professional qualification.

About You:

• Ideally you will be educated to Grade C/4 in maths and English.
• Be committed to study the Level 3 Recruitment Consultant Apprenticeship standard.
• Have a good work ethic with the ability to deliver effective administrative duties.
• You will be well organised, reliable and able to meet deadlines, whilst appropriately handling confidential and sensitive information.
• Have excellent written and oral communication skills as well as an ability to build and establish relationships. A good phone manner is needed along with a friendly approach.
• You will be a highly motivated individual with excellent attention to detail, a result orientated approach and continually seeking to improve.
• Have experience of working with IT systems including Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems.
• Experience of working effectively as part of a team.
• Experience in a working environment is helpful but not essential.
• Possess a positive, proactive and "can-do" attitude.

Essential Requirements for the role:

• Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English (or equivalent), which is a Grade D/E or 2/3 to begin the apprenticeship.
• Ability to reach a Level 2 Functional Skills in both Maths & English by the End Point Assessment (EPA), if you do not already have this.
• Have the right to work and study in England.
• Have been ordinarily resident in the UK or EEA for three years before the apprenticeship start date.

What will you be doing?

This role will be supporting the external services in-house recruitment team who work in partnership with clients to provide a tailored, bespoke service to meet their needs. The Recruitment Consultant Apprentice will:

• Responsible for providing administrative support across a wide range of attraction and recruitment activities from advertisement and selection, through to offer management.
• Active candidate management providing feedback throughout the recruitment process, ensuring a positive experience.
• Responding to candidate enquiries by phone, email or face-to-face, in a timely manner to deliver a high quality customer service.
• Work with the external services recruitment team to track and log programme progress, to ensure key milestones and deadlines are met.
• Support with attraction strategies e.g., attending events.
• Learn about how expenditure is tracked and how to report on return on investment.
• Work with internal and external partners to understand the support provided.
• Collate feedback to review and support the team to improve.
• Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
