Assistant Buyer – Construction
Romsey, Hampshire
Salary up to £25,000 + Pension + 25 Days Holiday
Blaymires Recruitment is representing a leading refurbishment contractor based near Romsey. The company has recently secured numerous fit-out and refurbishment contracts scheduled to start in 2024. They are actively seeking a new member to join their procurement team.
The role is open to both Procurement Administrator looking to step up into a buying role or an existing Assistant Buyer seeking a long-term opportunity for career growth with the company.
The Assistant Buyer will report directly to the Senior Buyer and will receive ongoing training and development.
Tasks & Accountabilities:
- Purchase goods or services in line with required cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Validate requests, prepare and raise purchase orders, and communicate as required.
- Monitor and ensure the prompt return of outstanding order books to facilitate on-time supplier payments.
- Maintain the Parts Database, receipt goods and services, and manage the Approved Supplier register.
- Assist in the approval process of new suppliers and maintain supplier information, including insurance, certifications, and credentials.
- Address invoice queries and resolve issues within the Supply Chain.
- Build and maintain relationships between Procurement, internal customers, and suppliers through efficient and helpful communication.
- Support the Purchasing function with continuous improvement.
- Assist with ad-hoc tasks within the Purchasing department, including accommodation booking and fleet management.
Candidate Requirements:
- Procurement Administration or Buying experience within the Construction or Materials sector.
- Excellent IT and administration skills.
- Team player, proactive, adaptable, and capable of problem-solving and challenging when necessary.
