Design Delivery ManagerJob Type - PermanentLocation – BirminghamMy client is currently recruiting a Design Delivery Managerwith Rail/Station/RC Structures experience to join their team on a major HS2 station build in Birmingham.The successful Design Delivery Manager will be responsible for:1) Maintain an uncompromising commitment to safety, and collaborate with Principal Designer HS2 Ltd.2) Protection of Design Vision and Employer’s Objectives3) Ensure culture and behaviours meet HS2 Construction Partner Objectives in collaboration with all parties, as described in WI830 (Collaboration).4) Ensure exemplary quality and sustainability standards.5) Participate in audits and surveillance of project design process.6) Support and encourage the implementation of solutions to reduce the carbon footprint.Scope, Deliverables and Programme 7) Manage design delivery including technical assurance, ensuring scope is packaged to support construction programme, and deliverables are issued in accordance with the programme.8) Manage scope definition process to ensure scope is clearly defined as per agreed list of content, agreed by all parties (Designer, CP and HS2), and packaged to support construction programme.9) Manage GETs at package level.Collaboration and Coordination10) Develop the design at package level to achieve a safe, buildable, operational and maintainable asset. In particular, engage the Construction Team and call on Early Contractor Involvement as applicable.11) Actively create an environment of collaboration and engagement with SDSC and HS2, in particular with the DMs, PMs and the PEs allocated to each design packages.12) Manage Communications with SDSC, HS2 and 3rd Parties13) Develop an approach to design driven by value and collaborative working with the Design team, Construction team and the supply chain.14) Liaise and coordinate with other Design Managers, Responsible Engineers and Assurance Team members for design package related items.15) Coordinate engagement with HS2 and third parties and manage ICDs & AIDDs.Review and Assurance process 16) Coordinate the design package reviews.17) Review Assurance deliverables at package level and deliver to Senior Design Manager / Lead Design Manager / Head of Design / Technical Assurance Manager for sign off.18) Ensure technical documents are reviewed and accepted by appropriate colleagues.19) For all other deliverables, you are the final approver of submissions to the client and/or third parties.20) Oversee Subcontractor design review is undertaken by AWJV to confirm intent for the design packages.Risks, Assumptions, Escalation Process & Change ManagementRequirements ManagementRisks, Assumptions, Escalation Process & Change ManagementInterface ManagementMy client requires the Design Delivery Manager to have: Experience within a similar role within an appropriately sized engineering organisation.Educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline, typically Engineering discipline (or related).Membership of an appropriate Professional body, typically Chartered member of Institute of Civil Engineering or an international equivalent professional status.Have excellent communication skills (including presentation skills) in English, both written and verbal and the ability to report at both Project and Board level.Ability to manage teams of people in a multi-disciplinary environment.
