Job description
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team. Your leadership will guarantee the delivery of high quality care from admission to discharge. Within the principles of the Modern Matron framework, your key role will be to ensure clinical quality standards are consistently achieved, by providing inspirational and visible clinical leadership to Elective Hub In Patients and Out patients teams, supporting them in assuring the delivery of a contemporary, high quality, safe, effective and evidenced based care.
New HWD Hospital is specialising in planned, non-emergency operations for orthopaedics, plastics, ophthalmology and lithotripsy, some general surgery, urology and gynaecology services, this dedicated, state-of-the-art facility uses the latest technology to deliver outstanding services. Outpatient services include gynaecology, urology, cardiology and orthopaedics, which are supported by endoscopy, physiotherapy, phlebotomy and radiology (CT, mammography, MRI, x-ray and ultrasound).
Replacing the old Heatherwood building, which has stood in Ascot for a century, our new hospital has six operating theatres, 48 in-patient beds, 22 day-case procedure rooms or ‘pods’ and two endoscopy rooms, providing operations, diagnostics and outpatient care to both NHS and Private patients across Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey.
The services in these areas are provided by dedicated, motivated multidisciplinary teams. You will be responsible for promoting a high standard of nursing care and multi-disciplinary working. You will be expected to adopt a team approach to problem-solving and therefore good communication and organisational skills are essential. The expectation of the matron is to be seen in the clinical areas, undertaking regular clinical rounds, talking to patients and listening to their concerns, dealing with complaints and involving patients in decision-making.

The Clinical Matron will have enhanced clinical skills and provide clinical expertise both within their own clinical environment and across the organisation as necessary to support the Organisational Strategy in the achievement of professional, operational and clinical governance objectives. This will involve being responsible for the development and implementation of service improvement and/ or policies in their area of expertise.
The post holder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided within the relevant setting. They will be easily identifiable to clients and users, provide strong, visible leadership and have the appropriate level of authority to provide support, advice and assistance required by patients, their families and carers. Emphasis on the areas of Patient/Client Safety, Patient Experience, User engagement and Clinical Outcomes will be essential.
