The Company
An international food manufacturing business who work closely with the major retailers to provide a range of chilled and frozen products across multiple categories. Passionate about quality, sustainability and great taste, they are now seeking an experienced Product Developer Technologist to help them reach new heights and delight customers and consumers alike.
The Role
Reporting to the NPD Manager you will work closely with the Development Chef and Process teams with responsibility for developing creative products and solutions for both new and existing ranges in response to customer briefs.
This will involve managing projects through all the stages of the NPD process from concept to launch, encompassing creative development and commercial evaluation as well as being mindful of costings and technical requirements. You’ll also be keeping up with seasonal food trends and undertaking competitor analysis whilst benchmarking and updating all relevant documentation.
An important aspect of the role will include liaising closely with suppliers and customers, working in partnership with them to ensure your products are developed and launched in line with their0 brand values. You’ll be key in modifying and creating new versions for every round of product submissions based on customer feedback and product refinements.
Liaising regularly with the Process Development team, you’ll support them in factory trials to ensure products match customer approved products. You will be able to take into account key trends and market insights to develop stunning products with the development chef team, ensuring that will stand out in your competitive category.
The Person
We are looking for a proactive, creative and organised Product Developer / NPD technologist, ideally with a Food Science degree, looking for a step up into a customer focused role.
You must have gained product development experience within a food manufacturing environment, understand the NPD process and have worked with retail customers. You’ll be happy to get hands on in the development kitchen to support the chefs with new concepts, but also manage NPD and EPD projects through to launch.
Curious and passionate about food you will inspire with your knowledge of ingredients and trends, with the ability to link your technical know-how with consumer insight. You will be analytical with strong problem-solving skills, always looking for new avenues to improve.
