Job description
We are looking for a full-time Support Worker to join our clients team on a permanent basis. This organisation is a day centre in Colchester for adults with learning disabilities. You will be responsible for providing care and support to the clients, helping them with their daily activities, education, and social skills.
As a Support Worker, you will:
- Assist the clients with their personal care, such as washing, dressing, and toileting
- Support the clients with their learning and development, such as literacy, numeracy, and life skills
- Encourage the clients to participate in various activities, such as arts and crafts, music, and sports
- Accompany the clients on outings and trips, such as shopping, cinema, and park
- Communicate effectively with the clients, their families, and other professionals
- Comply with all relevant policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Right to work in the UK with a minimum of 2 years UK experience
- Be able to work full time, 40 hours per week
- Ideally experience of working with adults with learning disabilities. However, this is not essential if you have the right values and passion to work within Social Care
- Knowledge of person-centred care, learning disability, and best practice
- Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
- Ability to work flexibly, including shifts, weekends, and bank holidays
