As an Assistant Technical Manager, you will be joining a brilliant team, working across 2 businesses; Munchy Seeds and newly re-named Teds Bowl (formerly Hug Pet Food). There will be an exciting opportunity to advance into the Technical Manager position at some stage within the company. About the role:

You will play a key role in advancing Food Safety Culture through your presence, personality, and strong leadership within the organisation. You will demonstrate integrity in decision-making, actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and effectively communicate with others to drive positive change.

Other duties will include:

- Transition to BRC accreditation promptly from Salsa.

- Establish a technical department spanning both businesses to manage rapid organic and acquisition growth.

- Report directly to the top management with a secondary reporting line to the technical consultant.

- Aid in a mutually agreed-upon New Product Development program.

- Offer timely reporting essential for operational management adhering to technical standards.

- Handle customer and sales support.

- Oversight of HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP practices.

- Verify all suppliers are approved and deliveries meet quality standards and specs.

- Ensure products meet brand quality expectations.

- Implement and oversee systems and procedures for compliance.

- Deliver training on Food Safety, Quality, and Processes within the organisation.

- Supervise and mentor a technical apprentice.

About you:

You will need previous experience within technical management and a formal food qualification equivalent to at least an HND are required for this role. Practical experience and the ability to drive positive food safety changes are considered equally important as academic qualifications. You should have experience dealing with major retailers, problem-solving skills, expertise in HACCP Level 4, knowledge of various industry standards, and experience in horizon scanning.
