Job description
Stockport Without Abuse (SWA) is a grassroots charity committed to supporting our vision of everyone having a right to live in safety, and to have a future without fear of domestic abuse. We work directly with women, men and children who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.
We are looking to recruit a Helpline Advisor to join our Accommodation Team to act as the first point of contact for the Moving On Domestic Abuse Service, on the frontline of a dynamic refuge helpline.
Main purpose of the post:
To provide support, help, and advice by phone, email and text, assessing and processing referrals ensuring the flow and accuracy of information meets the standards set.
Inputting information and working with a range of agencies, together with knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and the impact it has on victims and their families.
Providing high-quality first point of contact support for all survivors of domestic abuse especially in relation to homeless prevention, to ensure they are referred to the appropriate services.
To identify and assess the risks to and needs of victims and their families providing emotional and practical support and information in relation to legal options, safeguarding, housing, health and finance. The main purpose of the helpline is to support individuals wanting to move on or immediately flee from domestic abuse and to provide support to professionals seeking advice for clients.
