About the team
Our Safety, Standards and Environment team supports Porterbrook with:
- Operational Safety and Engineering Safety management
- In house and external production and management of maintenance, overhaul and modification documentation
- Engineering Change Management
- Documentation and drawing process control
Key Responsibilities
Role Purpose
The successful candidate will update and manage the production and implementation of technical documentation relevant to Porterbrook assets. Ensuring on-time project delivery, and fulfilment of all customer requirements.
Responsibilities - Production of technical documentation to support the delivery of procurement, maintenance, overhaul, and modification of Porterbrook's rolling stock
- Production of technical documentation to support activities at Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre
- End-to-end management of technical documentation projects including delivery planning, risk mitigation, stakeholder management & collaboration, and issue resolution
- Maintain all technical documentation project delivery plans. Ensuring full alignment and integration with relevant company project plans
- Manage the performance of external suppliers and consultants required to support the delivery of technical documentation projects
- Assess engineering and safety risks that may result in new or modified maintenance documentation
- Support the development, deployment and continued operation of digitally enabled content management systems across the Safety, Standards & Environment activities
- Produce management reports on document production
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
General Requirements
- Relevant technical authoring experience developing maintenance documentation and the ability to produce supporting graphics / illustrations using image editing software
- Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office and SharePoint
- Flexible and adaptable
- Able to work in a small team or independently
- A good understanding of electrical / mechanical engineering
Qualifications
- Industry recognised engineering qualification
- Recognised project management qualification / experience
Knowledge
- A good understanding of maintenance practices
- Industry related legislation and regulations
- Railway engineering advantageous
- Quality systems
- Engineering Safety
Key Skills
- Ability to understand and develop engineering instructions and drawings
- Competent in the use of IT systems such Microsoft Office
- Project management and planning skills
- Ability to plan and deliver on-time to meet business objectives
- Open-minded to new ideas and new ways of working
- Well organised with ability to recognise the strategy whilst seeing through the detail
