Job description
We are looking to recruit a Despatch/Warehouse Operative to work for a family-owned company based in Lewes. The post-holder will work in the Despatch department, working closely and reporting to the Despatch Supervisor. You will carry out your tasks efficiently and effectively to ensure all relevant Quality and Environmental Management System and Product Standards are met, and where possible exceeded, so that customer requirements are continually being met.
- 40 hours per week (optional overtime available)
- Monday to Friday, 7.00/7.30am to 3.30/4.00pm (30 minutes lunch-break)
- Full training will be provided
Key responsibilities:
- Finish assembly of signs, i.e. the fitting of backs and brackets
- Collate all related items for each specific order as detailed in the packing and despatch paperwork
- Pack goods in time for daily collections, as instructed by the supervisor, and in line with packing instructions, to ensure no risk of transit damage
- Will regularly use pallet trucks, weighing scales and packaging materials
- Keep a continued supply of product flowing through despatch
- Ensure high standards of quality are maintained keeping paperwork and packing details correct and complete
- Assist with final inspection and soak testing, as required
- Set high standards of housekeeping and keep work area safe and free of hazards at all times
- May be required to take training to operate a forklift truck
Essential skills required:
- Time management skills, self-motivation and enthusiasm
- Able to work as part of a team, making significant contributions
- Be organised and methodical in the approach to workload
- Be physically fit as this position involves lifting, shifting and loading of large boxes
Desirable skills:
- Experience of operating a forklift truck
