Job description

Description

Role: Fibre Network Maintenance Supervisor (FTTP)

Location: Hybrid – Essex and South East

Salary: £46,000 plus benefits: Van plus fuel card or £6,000 car allowance & 45p per mile, 25 days holiday, pension, private healthcare, annual bonus.

We are looking to recruit a Fibre Network Maintenance Supervisor who can support a well-known client in the telecoms industry with their full fibre network build (FTTP) and deployment programme (Client Side) across the South East of the country.

Reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Manager, you’ll manage your own teams, which consists of 8 engineers and they’ll be reporting directly to you. The team are geared towards network outages and the planning that goes into proactive maintenance. You will likely be dealing with customers at certain points, communication needs to be on par.

Your main responsibility is to ensure that all targets are being met and to resolve and issues that may hinder targets when it comes to the repair and maintenance of the network. Think network activation and network assurance, so needs to be someone who understands active network technology.

This is a leadership role, so we can come at this in a couple of different directions:

Either a senior fibre engineer who is looking to move away from the tools and into supervision, or, a supervisor / leader that has made that move already and has a high level understanding of how things work within fibre networks (Splicing and the difference between good and bad) but now is a leader of people.

The hands on technology isn’t the key on this – assuming you have a solid knowledge of how things work when it comes to FTTP networks.

This is a new network deployment environment and the plan is putting processes and best practice in place now, before the network is flooded with new customers on both residential and business. They are live currently, but still in growth stage so from an O&M perspective, this is the chance to build the model, make any amendments and tweaks and then be ready for more and more traffic comes onto the network.

General aim is that you will sit in between the engineers and the national O&M manager, freeing up the national manager to focus more on the strategy side of the division and you would handle a lot of the business as usual, daily operations.

You’ll need to be on the patch through the working week, so that means commuting range across the build areas. Most of the work is Essex, touching into Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire but you’ll plan and manage your own week and diary.
