About the role
A fantastic opportunity to build your tax career with a leading Lancashire-based accountancy firm. You’ll manage key client relationships as their go to adviser identify opportunities for tax planning work and provide solutions to clients’ complex problems.
In this role will take responsibility for the delivery of tax advisory projects from planning through to implementation across matters including shareholder structuring, inheritance tax and trust planning, offshore structuring, residency and domicile advice and succession planning.
The role will be highly client centric with the requirement to support the Directors in meeting clients throughout the north-west where you will lead discussions and develop solutions to clients’ complex problems. You will be required to prepare and review tax advisory reports and advice notes and lead the implementation of advice involving the coordinating of solicitors and financial advisors.
Through this role you will have primary responsibility for dealing with all matters relating to the management of the tax advisory projects working alongside the Directors with some compliance oversight (for complex trust and estate clients).
Key responsibilities
- Providing tax advisory services to a variety of clients and overseeing the successful delivery of technically excellent advice involving tax due diligence, structuring, international and other advisory work.
- Co-ordinating with other professional services to oversee their input into transactions and other tax advisory projects.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and understanding the client's business in order to identify areas for the provision of tax and other services
- Develop your own network of contacts internally and externally.
- Be responsible for preparation of advisory reports to clients.
- Respond quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided, and maintaining regular contact with clients.
- Be responsible for coaching and developing junior members of staff.
- Seek innovative solutions to complex challenges.
Technical Skills
- 10+ years’ experience within a private client role.
- In depth experience in a key tax areas such as personal tax planning, trusts,
- inheritance tax planning and offshore advice .
- Experience in preparing and reviewing tax advisory reports.
- Preparing advance clearance applications and liaising with HMRC.
- Managing tax enquiries and advising clients through investigations.
- Proficient in undertaking research of technical legislation, HMRC manuals
- and guidance.
- Excellent Report writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- applications.
- CTA qualified
Duties
- Managing a portfolio of client tax advisory projects.
- Preparation of reports, advice notes and step plans for client transactions.
- Presenting to clients both virtually and in person.
- Identifying opportunities and preparing proposals for new work.
- Project and stakeholder management.
- Supporting the wider firm in managing tax queries.
- Liaising and coordinating other professional services on ad hoc projects.
