Overview

Due to growth, we have a new opportunity available for a Junior Surveyor, to be based in Earls Colne, just outside of Colchester. This offers a competitive salary plus benefits.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am until 5.00 pm & 8.30am to 4.30pm on Fridays.

You will be working for a successful business, established 25 years ago, with around 50 employees. They are a leading design and survey agency in the UK who are proud to have supported many well-known clients. As the Junior Surveyor you will be travelling across the UK and Europe, capturing full measured surveys of various scales in various units such as supermarkets, distribution centres, hospitals, schools, restaurants and more. You will use Laser Scanners to carry out measured surveys, predominantly on existing buildings and external elevations, such as attached car parks. Professionalism is key, as you will be representing the company while out on the road. Strong communication is also essential as to update the team back in the office with any potential issues and relaying credible measurements and data back to them, for the team to draw up from. You will also be responsible for managing projects, from allocation and handover brief, to handing them back to the internal team with the measurements and relevant information they need to create accurate drawings.

To be considered for the Junior Surveyor you will need…

Flexibility to travel and stay away overnight in the UK & Europe, up to 4 nights per week.

To hold a valid passport for European travel.

Happy to be field based 80% of the time, with a full UK driving licence.

To be proficient using laser scanners and relevant software.

To have experience measuring building surveys.

To have a good understanding of 2D CAD plans, to refer to when out on-site surveying.

Be able to sketch up your surroundings and mark areas on a plan.

CSCS accreditation and Asbestos Awareness training would be beneficial, but not essential.

An understanding of 2D CAD plans, or using AutoCAD, would also be hugely beneficial.

Be able to organise your time efficiently and have great communication skills.
