Job description
What you will do in your working day
- Working with your Mentor to deliver Substation Layout Designs for clients such as National Grid, Electricity Northwest, Morrisons Energy Services and many more
- Draughting using AutoCAD in order to design and configure secondary protection systems
- Support in creating and delivering detailed drawings, including wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and block cable diagrams for construction purposes
- Learning about Primary Design Electrical in a Mechanical Format for a variety of customers with varying standards from 400kV to 33kV
The training you will be getting
- Electrical Power Networks Engineer (level 4)
- Training will be at Wigan and Leigh college one day per week, however if travel is a problem, alternative locations can be discussed
- Office location is in central Irlam, easily accessible by public transport, and also has free car parking
- Travel to client sites may occasionally be required
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- Apprentices can expect to graduate on to complete a degree in the subject if preferred
- After 7-10 years the apprentice may choose to become chartered, where they can become an EngTech or after a longer period become a Chartered Engineer
