The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the company operates in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards of the transport haulage industry. They will oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that the company meets its legal and ethical obligations.

Shift Details :  Monday- Friday ( 0800 - 1730 hours)

Salary :  £25,000 to £ 30,000- Depending upon experience ( open for discussion)

Key responsibilities:

• A 'can-do' attitude and a willingness to take on significant challenges.
• Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures for the industry.
• Monitor compliance with laws, regulations, and standards in the industry.
• Investigate and respond to compliance issues, including incidents of non-compliance.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations related to the industry.
• Support Compliance Manager with the management of the company Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) – and maintain to the standard of ISO
• Assist with the creation, review and implementation of RA’s, SSOW’s and (where applicable) Method Statements
• Compile meaningful statistics and conduct trend analysis data relevant to the nature of the business and operations
• Contribute to the development of effective safety and compliance communications throughout the company by means of TBT’s, Newsletters, Compliance Bulletins (Alerts), audits, site visits refreshing the notice-boards and other such initiatives
• Conduct any Regulatory, Internal, or Customer prompted investigations to a comprehensive standard, with emphasis on both root and underlying causation, and present findings and actions
• Proactively develop relationships with compliance counterparts at Goldstar Heathrow’s principal clients and engage in positive and continuous dialogue
• Work effectively with the company appointed people (and any external provider) to compose, develop and deliver suitable and sufficient safety training, commensurate with the objectives of the company HSMS
• Support the Compliance manager with essential ADR, COSHH and (if necessary) COMAH compliant requisites
• Assist in the co-ordinatation of site evacuation drills and alarm testing regime
• Assist in the management of compliance regarding maintenance of essential fire-fighting appliances and alarms, etc.
• Assist in the review and implementation of environmental policies and procedures
• Support Compliance Manager in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations
• Support the Compliance Manager with the management of the company Environmental Management System (EMS) to the ISO:14001 standard
• Catalogue and analyse essential fleet data regarding Co2 emissions. So findings and recommendations can be published monthly and correspond with the Low Carbon Emissions Group (FTA)
• Audit, analyse and collate environmental performance data and report thereof.
• Support the development of the Security & HMRC Customs standards and to assess new ways of working, ensuring that compliance is delivered in accordance with HMRC, EU, DfT and CAA regulations.
• Support the Compliance Manager with the management Goldstar Heathrow’s quality procedures and standards in accordance in all areas with ISO:9001
• Assist in ensuring that customer (client) requirements are met in accordance with previously agreed contractual arrangements
• Work with Operational staff in defining and agreeing quality standards
• Assist in the maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS) manual
• Plan, arrange and undertake internal compliance audits generating and circulating reports post audit highlighting best practice, non conformance and corrective actions
• Stringently adhere to the fundamental requirements of product handling as defined by the MHRA – (especially GDP compliance)
• Demonstrate and exercise understanding regarding HACCP systems and adherence to the BRC Global Standard (for Storage & Distribution)
• Keep up to date with changes to regulations and legislation affecting the business including H&S, Environmental and HMRC and communicate where necessary to the management teams & workforce enabling operating procedures to be created and continually reviewed
• Act when required as a company delegate (emissary) to stakeholders, authorities and partners:
• FORS – to ensure Goldstar Heathrow’s continued affiliation and uphold the continuing accreditation
• FTA – involvement and engagement to demonstrate Goldstar Heathrow’s influence by active participation
• BIFA – company representative and essential conduit of relevant information/communication
• Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce – maintain awareness of opportunities available through local partnerships/enterprises
• Local Authority – engage and maintain dialogue with essential services such as Slough Borough Council, Berkshire Fire & Rescue Services, Thames Valley Police, Colnbrook Community Association, etc.
