Job description
A leading chemicals business based in Grays, Essex is recruiting a Warehouse Operative to join its team a permanent basis. You will be responsible for undertaking daily warehouse duties, reporting to the senior warehouse staff, ensuring the effective operation of the site, use of warehouse facilities for storage & distribution of components/ finished foods, third party stock & consumables along with assisting with stock control and accurate record keeping.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9 am to 5:30 pm.
The Role
- Maintain the IBC cleaning station and its surroundings. Bring any issues to the attention of senior management and ensure that any potential improvements/procedures are raised to make best use of the facility.
- Making good use of your time making sure there are sufficient Cleaned IBCs in stock.
- Checking the IBCs are cleaned correctly and following the correct procedure.
- Quality control IBCs.
- Maintaining and understanding the process regarding the importance of having cleaned IBC s on site and the cost to the business.
- Complete weekly drum count, IBC & Pallet count.
- Provide support to direct reports.
- House Keeping.
- Ensure the site is kept tidy daily and removing all rubbish into their correct location.
- Support the site by completing weekly tidy up walk arounds.
- Complete daily site safety and security walks ensuring compliance on site. Report findings to Production TL’s and Warehouse management.
- Complete weekly security checks ensuring the site is safe and secure and report findings to relevant personnel.
- Waste Management – Daily inspections of the waste bunds along with weekly completion of the waste IBCs on site.
- To undertake rolling stock checks in accordance with the requirements of the business ensuring stock control and accuracy. Report findings to Warehouse Supervisor to analyse and maintain.
- To undertake drum crushing and disposal through the required processes ensuring the waste is regularly removed from site.
- To pick and process surplus fuel requirements and assist in the loading of the tankers for the Surplus materials following correct procedures and controls.
- Assist in other scheduled and ad-hoc duties to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the site.
Experience Required
- Forklift/FLT trained (training can be provided once in position)
- Trained in emergency response with specific understanding of their role within the ERP (training provided on job)
- Use of computers including outlook, word, and basic label printing functions
- Use of scanning equipment for stock control
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Hands-on approach of working
- Positive attitude when presented with issues with an imaginative and creative approach to problem solving
- Enthusiasm and perseverance with the ability to think and use initiative for carrying out tasks.
- Ability to build rapport with team and across the business.
- Aptitude for literacy and numeracy in order to read and understand and then execute instructions as per written instructions
