Finance Director
Hertfordshire (Hybrid, 2 days a week in office)
£100,000 – £120,000 + bonus + excellent benefits
The Company
A Finance Director is sought by a leading international education group. This long-established organisation provides learning for membership bodies around the world and is responsible for services delivery in B2B markets. Integral to on-going success is financial stability and direction with continual process improvements. As a result, the group seeks a Finance Director to manage a small team and provide financial leadership to the growing group.
Key Responsibilities of the Finance Director
Developing effective relationships with other Departments and the Board of Directors
Drive efficiencies in the month-end process and managing a small finance team
Completing the monthly financial statements and accounts, including month end and year end consolidated reports, balance sheet reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance for all subsidiaries and JV’s
Prepare and present financial information papers for the Senior Management Team
Managing the team to ensure timely and accurate preparation of weekly cashflow forecasts
Supporting the preparation and updating of monthly commercial/ financial budgeting/ forecasting
Developing best-practice and driving an iterative increase to efficiency and management information
Year End Audit pack and Statutory Accounts preparation, including liaising with External Auditors
Oversee the treasury function, including all banking, investment and payment systems
Reviews all tax computations including the quarterly VAT reconciliation, return and payment, ensuring that the PESM has been applied appropriately
Oversee the facilities management function ensuring smooth operation of day to day operations
Desirable Skills & Attributes of the Finance Director
Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
Experience within either an education business or membership body would be highly advantageous
Previous experience in senior leadership post in small/medium organisation
Understanding and knowledge of Board and sub-committee requirements
Comprehensive understanding of zero, exempt and irrecoverable VAT
Experience working in a similar role for a small not-for-profit organisation
Experience of international business would be useful (China would be particularly useful)
Hands on experience using, managing and developing Sage 200
