Ceredigion and Powys County Councils have brought together a regional team to drive forward the economic growth of Mid Wales and to support the delivery of the Vision for Growing Mid Wales.

We are looking to strengthen our regional team of enthusiastic, experienced and committed officers with the addition of a regional energy officer with experience covering project management, research, and carbon management such as climate change, energy, environmental science & technology.

On a day-to-day basis you will:

• Lead internal and external stakeholder engagement to help shape the delivery of Powys and Ceredigion Local Area Energy Plans
• Support the Growing Mid Wales Energy Lead to co-ordinate the delivery of Powys and Ceredigion Local Area Energy Plans across the region
• Play a key role in the development and implementation of key strategies and plans to support the region’s energy system transition to net zero
• Support progression of Public Service Board decarbonisation activity within the region working closely with key Public Service Board members towards key objectives
• Support the development and implementation of the Mid Wales Energy Strategy and action plan
• Support the development of the Energy programme for the Mid Wales Growth Deal building upon the priorities of the region

Note: the post is being advertised on a fixed-term basis (until 31/03/25). A possibility of further funding may be available, depending on budgets. This post is funded by the Welsh Government.

Economy and Regeneration

We play a fundamental role in the delivery of the Council’s key Corporate Strategy objective that seeks to boost the economy of the County and the Mid Wales region. We are organised into three main sections: Economy, Planning and Property Services. Our primary functions include:

• Growth and Enterprise: Supporting economic growth and regeneration locally and across the region; Growing Mid Wales; the Corporate Estate and Development Opportunities; Project Support; European and local funding; Food Centre Wales and supporting Agri-Food development; Tourism promotion and development; Tourist Information Centres; Coast and Countryside
• Planning Services: Supporting growth through Planning and Building Control Services; Strategic and Local Land Use Planning Policy; Development Management; Building Control; and Land Searches.
• Property Services: Supporting the Council’s programme through Project Management; Property and Building Maintenance; Facilities Management; Carbon Management; and the Efficient Use of Council Property.
